Your Program Committee welcomes you to a new season. We have been meeting this summer to plan what we hope will be interesting and exciting ventures for the SCQG.

On-Going Program Activities on Resource Day

  • Fat Quarter Draw! Remember the theme is Bali or Batik fabrics. Hand in your Fat Quarter before the meeting.
  • Round Robin and No-Sew-Round Robin There will be a table set up for participants to receive directions and additional information.
  • Visit The I Spy Collectors table This is an opportunity to add to your collection and to share with others.

September 24 Resource Day

We will introduce some group participation topics that are meant to facilitate wide involvement of members throughout the year. Sign-up sheets will be available. Be ready to join in the action!

Choose from a No-Sew-Round-Robin, a traditional Round-Robin, or join an Informal Collector Club. Consider the opportunity to take one or two day workshop sponsored by your Guild.

October 15: “Hands Across the Water” trip to Powell River

The meeting will feature a presentation by Joan Harvey on “Balis and Batiks – Behind the Scenes”. We look forward to hearing about Joan’s exciting travels and seeing what “souvenirs” she may have to show us.

November

November 2 to 28: Fibres@The Hill

A major fibre arts exhibit will be opening at the new Art Centre At Cedar Hill Recreation Centre, 3220 Cedar Hill Road, Victoria, running from November 2nd to 28th, 2011. The show is open 10am to 5pm daily. FIBRES@THE HILL is being presented by eighteen Vancouver Island Artists who exhibit as members of VISDA (Vancouver Island Surface Design Association). With artists originating from a variety of backgrounds across North America, this unique Vancouver Island exhibit is highly creative and insightful. It features weaving, embroidery, screen printing on fibre, dyeing, discharging colour, stitching, felting, tapestry, wearable art and embellishing with beads, metal, paper and threads.
